Minimum Accountabilities for Serving on the Board of Trustees
(Also refer to ARTICLE IV: Governance – Bylaws)
● Active involvement in ministry team work.
● Regular attendance at Regional Conferences, in person or online.
● Regular attendance at Annual Conventions, in person or online.
● Consistent financial support of UWH and the Region.
● Support for organizational policies, bylaws, and ethical standards.
● Successful experience in a leadership role in home ministry for a minimum of one year.
● Ongoing demonstration of diplomacy and tact
● Ability to evaluate situations objectively and represent the majority consensus of constituents rather than personal viewpoints.
● Ability to maintain an even temperament during stressful situations.
● Demonstrated success in interpersonal relationships.
● Demonstrated ability to uphold Unity principles objectively.
● Sufficient time, freedom, willingness, and support from one’s ministry to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Time Commitment
● Monthly Board meetings: approximately 2 hours each month, plus one hour preparation time.
● Committee work, special assignments, and special meetings as needed: one hour + per month.
● Fall Conference: approximately 4 days, including pre-conference, business, and post-conference meetings.
● Unity People’s Conventions (If attending, plan to participate in hosting a gathering for convention-goers from across the region): approximately 2 hours.
Financial Commitment
Registration and lodging for the UGLR Fall Conference are covered. Board members are responsible for travel, meals, and personal expenses related to Board service, including attendance at meetings or events not designated as covered by the Region.
